Event Description

Team OCEAN on the water off Cannery Row, Monterey

Monterey Bay National Marine Sanctuary seeks volunteers for two interpretive programs: Team OCEAN Kayak Naturalists and Bay Net Shoreline Naturalists. Team OCEAN Kayak Naturalists reduce marine wildlife disturbances in Elkhorn Slough and along Cannery Row in Monterey by talking with kayakers while on the water. Team OCEAN shifts are 6 hours on Saturdays or Sundays only. Bay Net Shoreline Naturalists interpret local marine wildlife for visitors along the recreation trails in Monterey, Pacific Grove, Santa Cruz and Moss Landing. Bay Net shifts are any day of the week for 2 hours. Training starts on March 29th and continues weekly until May 17th. Training consists of 2-hour evening lectures once per week and some weekend field trips.
