Event Description

NOAA’s Monterey Bay National Marine Sanctuary is offering Discovery Saturdays public education programs at the Coastal Discovery Center located at the William Randolph Hearst Memorial Beach in San Simeon, Calif. The programs are free to the public. The elephant seal rookery at Piedras Blancas located along Monterey Bay National Marine Sanctuary is a stunning place to visit year-round. One of the most exciting times during winter is when the seals come to shore to birth and mate. Attend a Discovery Saturdays program to learn about the amazing life of the northern elephant seal on land and at sea. After the program, attendees will be able to drive to the elephant seal rookery viewing area just 4.5 miles north of the Coastal Discovery Center. Please RSVP to Carolyn Skinder at 805-927-6575 or carolyn.skinder@noaa.gov.
