The third forum in the Leon Panetta 2013 Lecture Series is Gun Control: The Second Amendment -- Are There Limits? 

Secretary Panetta will be joined by Sarah Brady, chair of the Brady Center to Prevent Gun Violence, and Asa Hutchinson, former United States congressman and former task force director for the National Rifle Association.

The forum takes place Monday, May 27th  at 7:00 p.m. at the Monterey Conference Center.  It will air live on 90.3 KAZU 

Some of the 53 dogs and cats seized last month from an accused animal hoarder in Monterey are now up for adoption.  It’s unusual for these pets to be available so soon.  Accusations of abuse and neglect can often leave the animals stuck in a legal limbo for months.

The San Clemente Dam will be removed from the Carmel River.  Wednesday the Monterey County Planning Commission approved the project.  Removal starts this summer.  The dam was built nearly a hundred years ago but now represents a threat to both those living down river and to a specific species of fish.

As some California legislators push for a moratorium on fracking, the state continues to move forward on its first set of rules to govern this method of extracting oil and gas.  It held a public comment meeting on the proposed regulations Tuesday in Monterey.
