Salinas, CA – The already-contentious campaign for Monterey County's 2nd district supervisor is getting ugly just days before Tuesday's election. The race pits incumbent Lou Calcagno against Salinas city councilwoman Jyl Lutes, and it's become ground zero in the latest battle over land-use and development in Monterey County. The money has poured in on both sides - with developers, the agriculture industry and some unions supporting Calcagno and environmentalists, neighborhood activists and slow-growth advocates backing Lutes. But on Friday, things boiled over the top as young Republicans holding Democrats for Calcagno signs disrupted the event. KAZU's John Sepulvado was there.
