Leon Panetta 2014 Lectures Series Line-Up

Panetta Institute Chairman and former Secretary of Defense Leon Panetta announced the line-up for the Leon Panetta 2014 Lecture Series. This year will focus on the theme Learning the Lessons of History – Is the Past Prologue to the Future? 

Each event will be held at the Monterey Conference Center at 7:00 p.m, and will be broadcast live on 90.3 KAZU.  

Monday, March 10, 2014, 7:00 – 8:30 p.m. 

War and Peace – 100 Years Since World War I

With Nicholas Burns, former under secretary of state for political affairs, Michèle Flournoy, former under secretary of defense for policy, and Admiral James Stavridis, former supreme allied commander, NATO and former commander of the United States European Command.

Monday, April 28, 2014, 7:00 – 8:30 p.m.    

Role of Government – Depression, Wars, Equality and Poverty

With Mary Schapiro, former chairman of the Securities and Exchange Commission (invited) and John Snow, former secretary of the Treasury (invited).

Monday, May 12, 2014, 7:00 – 8:30 p.m.

Security versus Freedom – Sedition to Internment to Surveillance

With Barton Gellman, author and Pulitzer Prize winning journalist, Michael Morell, former acting director of the CIA and former deputy director of the CIA and Robert Mueller, former director of the FBI.

How Presidents Make Decisions – Leadership, Crisis, Politics and Trust
