Pacific Grove, CA – World famous Pebble Beach, California won't be getting a new golf course anytime soon. The California Coastal Commission heard testimony Wednesday (June 13, 2007) from attorneys for the Pebble Beach Company asking to change local zoning regulations for the area. But in a vote of 8 to 4 they refused. The Commission's staff, the Sierra Club and members of the local public said the revised zoning and eventual development would hurt environmentally sensitive habitat in the Del Monte Forest. Attorneys for Pebble Beach Company and local residents argued the proposal would actually preserve the forest. KAZU's Rachael McDonald reports.
