Salinas budget battle pits libraries vs. police

Salinas, CA – When Salinas voters passed the half-cent sales tax known as Measure V at last November's election, most assumed the city's budget crisis was solved. But while the city's libraries are likely safe, they still have to compete with other departments - including police, fire and parks and recreation - for a limited amount of new revenue. As KAZU's Ben Adler reports, that set off a funding battle among the departments at two recent city council meetings, including one earlier this week.
