Salinas, CA – So what do the two sides in the debate over the Monterey County General Plan have in common? Well, they were both completely shocked by county supervisors recently. The Board said last month it intends to put two competing development proposals on the ballot - the county-written general plan update, known as GPU4 and the General Plan Initiative, written by slow-growth advocates who feel GPU4 is too friendly to developers. Supervisors could make it all official Wednesday when they meet in special session. KAZU's Ben Adler talks gets a preview from Salinas Californian reporter Dawn Withers.
