Touting vocational education in an election year, Schwarzenegger visits Salinas

Salinas, CA – When an incumbent politician campaigns for re-election, his handlers can set up most events in one of two ways: a state event, run by the politician's staff and paid for by taxpayers, or a campaign event, paid for by private donations. So when California Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger visited Salinas Tuesday, touring a vocational education program at Salinas High School, the visit was billed as official state business. But as KAZU's Ben Adler reports, like most election year events, it had a political overtone.
