Krista Almanzan

Jack Digby is a Navy veteran and union iron worker from Capitola.  His job as a structural welder gets him out in the open air on skyscrapers and bridges, but he wants to give that job up for a seat in Congress.

Independent Barbara Honegger is one of five candidates running to replace retiring Congressman Sam Farr.  During the Reagan Bush Administration, Honegger worked in the Justice Department on a project to eliminate sexual discrimination from federal and state laws.  She later resigned calling the President’s commitment to the effort a sham. 

Hospital Lab Technician and Union Representative Joe Williams is one for five candiates running to replace Congressman Sam Farr.  Williams, who is  from Santa Cruz , calls himself a Berniecrat and is on the ticket for the Peace and Freedom Party.  Journalist Lewis Leader interviewed Williams about why he’s running.

    

Monterey County Deputy District Attorney Jimmy Panetta is one of  three candidates, so far, running to replace retiring Representative Sam Farr in the 20th Congressional District, which includes Monterey and San Benito Counties as well as parts of Santa Cruz and Santa Clara Counties.

State Senator Bill Monning is running for re-election.  He made the announcement Tuesday in Monterey outside of Colton Hall where the California Constitution was signed.

He won the seat to represent District 17  in 2012.  He now serves as Senate Majority Leader.

During his speech, Monning talked about his accomplishments since being elected including the recently passed “End of Life Option Act,” and the establishment of the California Central Coast Veterans Cemetery on the former Fort Ord.
