KAZU News has won the National Edward R. Murrow Award: Excellence in Writing for the story Reality Of Possible Separation Sets In For American Children Of Undocumented Parents by KAZU reporter Erika Mahoney.

KAZU News won two Regional Edward R. Murrow Awards for its work in 2017.   Every year the Radio Television Digital News Association honors outstanding achievements in electronic journalism with the Murrows. 

KAZU News earned four Regional Edward R. Murrow Awards for its work in 2016. Every year the Radio Television Digital News Association honors the best in electronic journalism. These winning entries move on to the national competition.

KAZU News has won two regional Edward R. Murrow Awards for Feature Reporting and Sports Reporting.  The awards are given by the Radio Television Digital News Association and honor the best electronic journalism produced by radio, television and online news organizations around the world.

KAZU News has won four regional Edward R. Murrow Awards from the Radio Television Digital News Association.  The awards honor outstanding achievements in electronic journalism.  

KAZU competes in the small market radio category, region two which includes similar sized radio stations in California, Guam, Hawaii and Nevada.

Regional award winners move on to the national competition.  KAZU won in the following categories.

KAZU News has been honored with two regional Edward R. Murrow Awards.  News Director Krista Almanzan's story Labor Shortage Hastens Push for Immigration Reform won in the Hard News Reporting category.   She also won an award for Use of Sound with her story Salinas Playground Designed to Bring Kids of All Abilities Together.  Both stories now move on to the national competition.
