David Kennedy is director of the Center for Crime Prevention and Control at John Jay College of Criminal Justice and former director of the Boston Gun Project. The Boston Gun Project's Operation Ceasefire was credited with sharply reducing the youth homicide rate in Boston. A self-taught criminologist, he has devoted his career to reducing gang- and drug-related violence. He spoke at CSUMB's World Theater on Friday, March 28th, 2014.

Guests for the final event included Ehud Barak, former Israeli Prime Minister and former Minister of Defense; Joe Lieberman, former United States Senator from Connecticut; and Richard Lugar, former United States Senator from Indiana and former chairman of the Senate Committee on Foreign Relations.
