Moss Landing, CA – The New Shakespeare Sanctuary is nestled between an art gallery and antique shop on the main drag in Moss Landing. This tiny fishing town along Highway One is known for its seafood restaurants, marine research labs and antiques, but Shakespeare? Terry Taylor says it surprises a lot of visitors. "Forty to fifty percent probably leave," said Taylor when describing what happens after people discover it's not an antique shop.
Felton, CA – Daniel Marcom tests the limits of a 1984 VW Rabbit as he drives it up one of the winding and hilly roads in the Santa Cruz Mountains. "I like the smoothness, but the lack of power, I'd have to do something about that," said Marcom. With three people in the car, the speed maxes out at just 45 miles per hour. It's about what Marcom expected. This all-electric car was built for in-town driving.
Watsonville, CA – A line of people had already formed as the Second Harvest Food Bank truck pulled into the parking lot outside a Watsonville elementary school. Teresa Moran has been in charge of food distribution at this and 48 other Santa Cruz County sites for two years. She said the lines keep growing. "When I came at this site, we only had 25 people. Now we have 95 bags today," said Moran.
