Every winter Western Monarch butterflies make their home on the Central Coast.  Come spring, no one knows exactly where they go.  Now researchers aim to find out the Monarchs' other home, where the next generation is born.    

There are several pilot projects underway in the Monterey Bay Area exploring the idea of a very localized power source: micro-grids that tap into the region’s wind and sun. 

Beginning March 20th if you buy something in Santa Cruz County, you’ll need to bring your own bag, or be ready to pay 10-cents for a paper bag.  The ban on single use plastic bags affects all businesses in the unincorporated areas of the county except restaurants. But there is an effort underway to include them in the ban.
