Another Salinas Valley produce recall; this time, it's lettuce

Salinas, CA – Less than a month after a nationwide E. coli outbreak in spinach was traced back to California's Salinas Valley, a local produce company has recalled some of its lettuce products. The Salinas-based Nunes Company is voluntarily recalling its Foxy-brand green leaf lettuce sold from October 3rd through October 6th in California and six other states. CSUMB breaks ground on new library

Seaside, CA – Fourteen golden shovels tossed aside some loose rubble Thursday afternoon as California State University Monterey Bay broke ground on its new library. The three-floor, 64 million dollar building will be named for the Tanimura and Antle families, who are providing major funding. It was designed by the same architects that designed the Monterey Bay Aquarium and the library at nearby Monterey Peninsula College.

FDA: Salinas Valley spinach is OK to eat, but...

Washington, DC – The Food and Drug Administration has lifted its consumer warning on spinach grown in the Salinas Valley -- even though its investigation into the recent E. coli outbreak continues. That means all U.S.-grown spinach is now okay to eat - as long as it's not involved in the FDA's recall, which applied to Natural Selection Foods spinach with best-if-used-by dates from August 17th through October 1st.
