Salinas, Calif. – Many Monterey County residents are still furious two days after the Board of Supervisors voted to not place the General Plan initiative on the June primary ballot. One of the initiative's leading backers, LandWatch Monterey County, has already filed suit, saying supervisors broke the law by not putting the measure on the ballot. Salinas, CA – The fierce battle over future Monterey County land use took a major twist Tuesday night. The Board of Supervisors voted 3-to-2 to not place the proposed General Plan initiative on the June ballot. Initiative supporters had gathered about 15-thousand signatures through the referendum process, and supervisors appeared to only have two choices - adopt the initiative as law, or let the entire county vote. Instead, they did neither. KAZU's Ben Adler reports.
Monterey, CA – It's not the Tour de France, but organizers of the Amgen Tour of California hope to start a cycling tradition with this week's inaugural bike race down the California coast. Today's 4th stage, 130 miles from Monterey to San Luis Obispo, brought a major international cycling race to the Monterey Peninsula for the first time. KAZU's Ben Adler reports.
